The Web

Summary:

The Anunnaki Project produced their first performance on Halloween 1997, telling a modern tale of big business and its eventual downfall to a much larger predator.

Principle:

Creating a fantasy world paralleling our own, The Anunnaki Project generated fictional characters based on real-life business moguls.  The featured cast member was a larger than life spider puppet, complete with a furry black thorax.

Development:

As audience members reached the edge of the alley, the real-life business mogul was lured into the claws of the spider and hoisted high overhead.  As the spider devoured him, his true nature was exposed.  A sparking circuitboard emerged from under his coat, and he realized that he was more machine than man.

Technical:

This performance involved some interesting suspension work. The spider costume, a 5' foot contraption with puppet controls for the pincers and eyes, was suspended on a Z-pulley swing.

Retrospective:

This was a most interesting adventure for the earliest members of The Anunnaki Project.
