ORIGINS I

May 12th, 2001
The Anunnaki Project is honored to bring you:

Origins: A Survey of the past.

at Consolidated Works gallery and theatre, 410 Terry Avenue in downtown Seattle.

Our first annual gathering. Origins I will cover the source material that has inspired such works as "Vocem Dei", "Surpu Masu", "The Genesis of Ereskigal" and a host of other performances. We will also feature movies, workshops and performances from several local artists.

Highlights to include:

  • A showing of locally produced movies of 'Gilgamesh Tablet XI' and 'The Descent of Ishtar'
  • Sumerian poetry reading
  • "Sound in Ancient Magic" a lecture and workshop
  • "The Sumerian Creation" an ancient hymn on harp with vocal accompaniment
  • A workshop lecture and performance of the Mahari tradition of Orissi dance
  • A discussion of the origin of Middle Eastern Dance
  • Visit the Dilmun, a Souk bazaar featuring fine crafts by local artists
  • A display of costumes and props we have used in past performances
  • The past three years of performance on video
  • A celebration our first three years of telling tales of "ancient magic and lost kingdoms" including several bands playing music from around the world!

A full schedule will be available online in April.

The day and night will be filled with events and adventures, things to see and experiences to enjoy. And yes, The Cabiri will be performing selected vignettes with a very special performance at the end of the night!

Join us as we look back upon origins of the ancient world and recent productions in our most exciting event to date!
