The Age of Dreams
05/24/10
After the world was created, Priapelga the sister of the moist mother earth, had a great pain in her belly. The gods of the hearth yelled to her “let go the children your body wants to give to the word” and she brought forth a race of clay giants. Svarog saw these creatures and was intrigued and with that interest he gave them sight and filled their hearts with the fire of the soul. As they awakened, these clay giants propagated and danced amongst the gods, growing, changing and becoming mankind.
As they grew, they entranced the gods and vied for their attention. Soon the gods were spending all of their time playing with the humans and not behaving like gods at all. Cernobog, one of the oldest and therefore wisest of the gods came forth and called warning to Svarozhitch. The elder gods spun a web and mankind was isolated away.
The world became cold and dark for mankind without the gods to light their way. Tribes could not grow food and mankind began to starve. In this cold world a visionary child was born and he saw the starving of his people. Every night he would dream of the gods and of the plant of life that would save his people. One day he set out on a quest to find the plant of life. The angered the god Veles, but despite Veles curses the other gods gacve favor to Slav and allowed him to find the plant and returned it to his village.
This healed the rift with the gods and the humans built temples in celebration of this new relationship. It was not long however before the gods were even more attached and distracted to the humans than ever before. Even Cernobog joined in the distraction of worship and the world became chaotic and disordered.
It was in these last moments that Svarovitch saw the chaos the world had come to and he returned to earth from the apex of the world tree.
Drawing a line in the world, Svarovitch separated once and for all the world of the gods and the world of humans. As the humans multiplied and covered the earth, the gods disappeared, ever watch but no longer were they able to be seen by the humans. It is in this world we now live, a world where the gods must hide form the tide of mankind.
