Inanna
07/22/08
In which Inanna descends to the underworld to challenge her aunt Ereskigal.

In the story, Inanna takes the seven holy Me and descends to the underworld. She is confronted by the Galla, the gatekeepers of the Ganzir who bring forth Neti.

Displaying her worldly power, Neti is forced to show her to Ereskigal.

Her Aunt is shocked that Inanna would challenge her rule and she places the look of death upon Inanna. The look withers the solar goddess and she begins to rot from the inside.

The Anunnaki come forth and take the seven Me from Inanna and then hang her on a hook to rot in the underworld.
