The Kojiki of Amaterasu
The Kojiki or Records of Past Matters, is a collection of histories regarding the origins of Japan which were told at the time of the Yamato Court (800 C.E.).
z
In this particular tale, we see the Kami (gods) create spectacles of amusement and beauty in hopes of luring the sun goddess, Amaterasu, out of hiding. From the twirling fires of Omokane to the swirling veil dance of Uzume, the Kami seek to return the sun to the sky in this story of shadow and light.
