Nomina barbara nunquam mutaveris
Sunt enim nomina apud singulos a Deo data
Potentiam in Sacris ineffabilem habentia
"Never Change the Barbarous Names; For there are names in every nation given from God, which have an unspeakable power in rites "
-Julian the Theurgist-
The Chaldean Oracles
The words above were used by the Neoplatonists of Alexandria to express to the public the value of obscure religions that were fading with the disintegration of the Roman Empire. Now, nearly two thousand years later, these words have inspired our collective to step forward and follow the driving philosophy of Porphyry, Iamblichus, and other theologians of the ancient world.
In the past few decades, our society has become increasingly jaded to the presence of divine images. Humans have become generalists, post-modernists, deconstructionists, and so forth. The Anunnaki Project is exactly the opposite. We have seen so many beautiful images from so many different cultures, many which are fading further and further into the past. A tear shed for every image lost to the past would flood the world.
The mythic Ziusura spoke to Gilgamesh, the allegorical Crittias to Timaeus, the historical Iamblichus to Porphyry and, more recently, Joseph Campbell to PBS, words meaning the same thing: all the names for the divine are valid.
Using the heroic efforts of historians who have remembered in a society trained to forget, we create a foundation for our performances which is true to what has gone before. Using our creative minds, we fill in the gaps lost to the winds of time. The construct we make is a living, breathing presentation that speaks to you, calling you to remember what the human race is quickly forgetting.
